Galley

There isn’t another restaurant like it in all of Dubuque. It’s Dubuque’s ONLY restaurant on the water—The Ice Harbor Galley. Not only does the Ice Harbor Galley serve delicious dishes, there is some wonderful history behind this floating restaurant.

The Ice Harbor Galley is housed on a barge much like those used by the US Army on the Missouri River during the World War II. Such barges were for housing German POW’s who were used as laborers in flood control projects. The barge housed 70 prisoners and 12 US soldiers.

Today, we have turned this barge into a unique eatery that allows our guests to watch the hustle and bustle of the Port of Dubuque. It’s not unusual to see the working harbor in action as tugs pass in and out. It is also truly awesome to catch the glimpse of the majestic bald eagle in flight as it fishes in harbor.

Our specialties include grilled catfish, walleye, and other Mississippi River favorites. Our salads are sumptuous, and we have incorporated a lighter side menu for those who are calorie conscious. Below is a listing of some of our menu items to tempt your taste buds!
